Brett J. Kaminsky
Brett focuses his practice on medical malpractice, premise liability, product liability, and complex litigation matters.
Brett joined the Beasley Firm in April 2017. His accomplishments in just over a year with the firm were recognized by Super Lawyers with his selection as a Rising Star. Brett has worked alongside Jim Beasley, Jr. and Heidi Villari on catastrophic injury cases. To date, Brett has helped secure more than $30 million dollars in recoveries as co-counsel and helped bring justice to those who have needed it most. This past summer, Brett assisted in securing a 7-Figure settlement in a case involving a child who died at an amusement park. In mid-April, Brett assisted in a Federal case involving a failure to diagnose cancer in an inmate at a Correctional Institution. The case resulted in a seven figure settlement. In early September of 2017, Brett was co-counsel in a medical malpractice case involving brain injury to twins, which resulted in an eight figure settlement. In October of 2017, Brett assisted as co-counsel in a seven figure settlement involving a child that was prematurely discharged from a hospital and tragically died the following day.
Brett has a unique ability to analyze both sides of a case because of his background and experience. He most recently spent three years at a prominent defense firm in Philadelphia where he trained under one of the nation’s best defense attorneys. He represented both physicians and hospitals in high liability exposure cases and gained invaluable experience from the “other side.” Brett’s knowledge gained through defense firm training creates an indispensable contribution to his clients and to The Beasley Firm.
Before his time as a medical malpractice defense attorney, Brett found his roots clerking at a plaintiff’s firm, where he focused on personal injury. His time served at one of Philadelphia’s most recognized personal injury firms throughout law school was instrumental in guiding him within aspects of cases and most importantly, in teaching him the value of attorney-client relationships.
Brett is a graduate of the Thomas R. Kline School of Law, the University of Maryland (B.A. Criminal Justice), and Germantown Academy.
At the Thomas R. Kline School of Law, Brett tailored his courses towards becoming a trial lawyer, which included taking multiple trial advocacy courses with practicing attorney’s and Judge’s throughout Philadelphia. In addition to his school and work schedule, clerking at a plaintiff’s firm, Brett served as a Dean Scholar in a trial advocacy course for the Honorable Legrome Davis. Brett also volunteered his time at a local high school where he taught constitutional law and appellate advocacy once a week as part of the Marshall Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project. As a result of his dedication and contribution, Brett was awarded the Marshall Brennan Award for Excellence in Teaching and Community Service at graduation.
In addition to his involvement in community service, Brett was a Board Member on the school’s Moot Court team. Brett was also a member of the nationally ranked Trial Team, where he competed on the national stage, earning him a graduation award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy as well as two Performance Awards in Trial Advocacy. Brett was later asked to serve as an Adjunct Faculty member at the school, helping to assist in coaching and preparing law school students for national competitions similar to those he participated in during his time as a student.
Brett was also voted by his classmates and faculty as one of his class’s Commencement Speakers.
