School Bus Accident Near Dorney Park Injured 13 After Bus Driver Failed To Yield To Oncoming Traffic
Police say 13 students suffered what appeared to be minor injuries after a school bus crashed on its way home from an amusement park in eastern Pennsylvania. Authorities say the bus was one of three taking Pennridge High School students home from a class trip to Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom. It appears that most of the injuries were complaints of head or neck pain.
The accident happened around 6:15 p.m. Friday evening when the bus collided with a car near the on-ramp to Interstate 78, on the border of South Whitehall and Lower Macungie townships. Police indicated that the bus had a green light, but not the right of way to make turns. The bus driver was cited for failure to yield to oncoming traffic. The yellow school bus was chartered through the Levy Bus Company for the trip.
Pennridge Principal, Thomas Creeden indicated that none of the injuries were life threatening, but those that were injured were being transported to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest and St. Luke’s Hospitals for evaluation.
