Philadelphia Personal Injury Lawyers at The Beasley Firm

Since 1958, The Beasley Firm has set the standard for representing injured people and the families of people who have died in accidents or as the result of negligence. Firm founder Jim Beasley, Sr., was known as “the people’s lawyer” because of his history of taking on so many giants on behalf of the little guy. “Philadelphia’s version of the king of torts,” was how Philadelphia District Attorney Lynne Abraham described Beasley. “He really perfected — not started, but perfected — the art of tort litigation,” Abraham said.

Beasley won, for example, a record $29 million verdict in 1984 against Cessna on behalf of the family of Joe Guanere, an 18-year-old killed in a plane that crashed due to a defective pilot seat. Beasley also won an $8 million verdict against the Philadelphia Housing Authority, on behalf of two single mothers who lost together six children in a fire at a PHA residence that didn’t have smoke alarms. He set multiple records, including the highest personal injury jury verdict in Philadelphia — $907 million — and under his guidance The Beasley Firm’s attorneys also obtained the two highest medical malpractice jury verdicts in Pennsylvania.

Since his death in 2004, The Beasley Firm has carried on his tradition of excellence in legal representation of injured persons, and has continued to ensure that seriously injured individuals get their day in court and hold the companies that injured them accountable. In 2008, for example, our attorneys obtained a $20.5 million jury verdict in Fledderman v. Glunk after a five-week trial, which awarded $15 million in punitive damages, the highest every in a Pennsylvania medical malpractice lawsuit. In 2009, our attorneys obtained a $16.25 million settlement mid-trial for a man who lost his legs as the result of gross negligence by his employer and Caterpillar’s failure to incorporate basic safety features on its bulldozers. In 2011, we obtained a $6.6 million settlement for a young man paralyzed in an SUV accident.
