As supervisor of the firm’s intake process, Lisa Cohen Smyth is often the first attorney our clients get to know. An experienced attorney and polished communicator, Lisa quickly boils down complicated legal concepts into simple, common-sense explanations for clients, and knows how to ask the right questions to get to the bottom of each potential client’s situation. Lisa treats each person who calls with dignity and respect.
Those who have suffered catastrophic injuries often have questions about the legal process, especially those who have never been involved in a lawsuit before. Lisa has a special gift in breaking through barriers to alleviate concerns and provide perspective while maintaining the utmost candor and professionalism. When Lisa joined The Beasley Firm, her prior attorney colleagues described her with one word: “fabulous.” Unsurprisingly, clients often stay in touch with Lisa throughout the entire litigation process, and sometimes beyond.
Lisa graduated from Widener Law School in 2006, where she was awarded the Widener Scholars Academic Scholarship. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the Pennsylvania State University’s College of Communications, where she majored in Public Relations and also graduated with a double minor in American Studies and Sociology. While attending Penn State, Lisa was awarded the Prutzman Academic Scholarship. She was also honored by being made a member of both the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Golden Key International Honor Society.
Prior to joining the Beasley Firm, Lisa honed her legal skills, first teaching law as an adjunct professor at Harcum College, and then spent years successfully defending physicians, hospitals and other businesses in complex medical malpractice and personal injury cases, so Lisa knows the litigation process inside and out, from both sides of the “v.” According to Lisa, “Since joining the Beasley Firm, I have realized that my background as a defense attorney has given me a unique understanding and perspective with regard to representing plaintiffs in litigation. It is my goal to provide each and every client with the highest level of professional assistance and obtain financial justice by being prepared, working hard and smart, and staying focused. From the moment I first talk to a client, we start preparing for the challenges of litigation and developing our strategy for the case.”
In short, the wealth of experience Lisa brings to her position informs every aspect of her job. It also makes her one of our clients’ most trusted legal advisors. Give her a call and we’re sure you’ll agree: she’s fabulous.
