Dana H. Augustine
Philadelphia Personal Injury Lawyer
Dana Augustine loves a challenge. She is a first-generation professional from a small steel town outside of Pittsburgh who went on to become a partner at a prominent Philadelphia law firm.
At her former firm, Dana defended corporations-usually large product manufacturing or construction companies-in suits involving catastrophic losses. She would visit factories to observe the manufacturing process, inspect scenes to learn about the product use and application, and work with the company employees and experts in the field to obtain a technical understanding of the product involved in complex product cases.
To defend a construction company, she studied the regulations governing her clients' work and followed workers on the jobsite to learn her clients' business. As a result of her relentless preparation, Dana won or favorably resolved many cases requiring the defense of a complicated product, against allegations of manufacturing and design defects. She obtained dismissals and favorable settlements in many suits against contractors involved in construction accidents.
Growing Desire to Help People, Not Companies
In the course of her career as a defense attorney, Dana also represented schools and social services agencies in highly sensitive cases. The injured plaintiff was often a minor alleging negligent supervision, intentional violence, or emotional bullying resulting in devastating injuries. Dana came to realize over the years-particularly after starting her own family-that the professional satisfaction on the defense side was fading in light of her personal convictions. Knowing that she wanted to help injured plaintiffs and their families, rather than insurance companies and their insureds, she came to us looking for a new challenge.
At The Beasley Firm, Dana passionately pursues damages for injured plaintiffs. Her practice is concentrated on medical malpractice actions and other negligence and intentional tort actions against medical providers, public entities, and private businesses in the state and federal courts in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Her extensive background representing insurance companies and corporations better equips her to now represent injured plaintiffs going up against these entities.
