Sky Diving Parachute Failure Accidents Are Not Usually Caused By Jumper Error But Rather A Defective Or Poorly Maintained Chute.

Here at the nationally known Beasley Law Firm, our experienced parachute accident lawyers are all too familiar with the product defects or malfunctions that can occur with parachutes at no fault of the skydiver. Our Firm represented the Estate of Jim O'Brien, the channel 6 newscaster, after he fell to his death when his parachute failed to protect him due to a product defect.

Over the weekend, David Winoker, a prominent New York Real Estate Executive, fell to his death after his parachute malfunctioned while he was jumping. The skydiving accident also claimed the life of an experienced flight instructor. Winoker and Chulsky jumped in Plattekill NY, about 70 miles north of New York City, in a dive organized by Skydive. The outing was organized to celebrate a friend's 50th birthday.

According to news sources, the overly cautious 49 year-old David Winoker decided to sky dive to celebrate his friend's 50th birthday. His wife even encouraged David to sky dive. Sadly, the parachute did not function the way it was supposed to and caused his untimely death.

It is extremely sad that a young man fell to his death due to a parachute malfunction, but to me, what is even sadder is that his wife is placing the blame on herself because she encouraged David to skydive. At David's funeral on Sunday, his wife Jill told mourners, “He never said no to me. Maybe this time, he should have said no.” No person should carry any guilt if they supported or encouraged a person to sky dive. The only person or persons that should feel guilty are the parachute manufacturer or the company that maintained the chute that caused someone's death. Here at the Beasley Law Firm, we are experienced parachute failure attorneys that successfully hold the correct person or company accountable for any parachute malfunction.
